About Scoop Zero-Waste
I’m Katie and along with some lovely helpers (my mum and best friend) I run Scoop Zero-Waste pop-up events around Oxfordshire and nearby counties.
I became motivated to start my personal zero-waste journey after working alongside East Oxford Social enterprise, SESI refill, during my time helping run local food co-op Cultivate. I helped set up some SESI detergent refill dispensers at a local community space in Wantage and it soon became clear the local community were keen for an opportunity to also refill on food and other plastic free goods.
With help from Rina and Paul at SESI I set up Scoop and now, as well as popping up in Wantage once a month, Scoop pops-up at places all over the county and nearby communities. It’s thanks to the support and passion of all of our customers and hosts that we are able to keep spreading the zero-waste message around a little part of the world.
I try to keep the running of Scoop as low-impact and zero-waste as possible. I buy mostly organic stock and work with local producers when I can. Buying in bulk means I can help reduce the amount of packaging per item all of which I recycle or re-use. My bulk containers are up-cycled ice-cream tubs which I get from from a local farm visitors centre who would otherwise be putting them in landfill and my display jars have been collected by me and people I know.
I love hearing from like-minded people so feel free to get in touch with any questions or suggestions or just to say hi.
